Scots Dominate The Box In Sweep Against Lynx

Gordon College Softball hit their home diamond again this evening as they hosted the Lesley University Lynx for a twin bill where the Fighting Scots dominated the batter's box in both bouts to sweep the Lynx, 6-1 and 15-7.

Game One
  • Mara Little got the Scots going early on in the first with a single to center field, scoring Emily Peterson to grab the 1-0 edge. The next batter up, Isabella Rivera doubled Gordon's score with one swing of the bat as the sophomore roped one over the left field fence.
  • Little held the Lynx to just two hits in the next innings before Lesley was able to get a run across before the Fighting Scots booked a double play after Little got the lead runner out at home leading catcher Gabrielle Olsen to gun the runner out at first, getting out of the inning and holding on to the advantage for the Scots, 2-1.
  • Gordon tacked on another run in the fifth to make it 3-1 before bringing the score to 6-1 after a hot sixth inning at the plate including an Ami Rivera homer to seal their first win of the evening.
Game Two
  • The Lynx were able to get on the board first this time (1-0), but Gordon's Peterson quickly tied it up with an in the park homer to lead off the game. However, Lesley started to get hot at the plate as they added another three runs in the second to make it 4-1 before the Fighting Scots blew it open in the home half of the inning scoring 12 runs before adding another in the third to bring the score to 14-4.
  • Lesley was able to tack on a few more runs but the Scots were relentless, securing the 15-7 win after five innings.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots hit the road on Saturday, March 25 to face Westfield State for a double header starting at 12 p.m.
