Game Recap: Softball |

Scots Fall To Sharks And Cardinals On Day Two Of Spring Games

Coming off of their first win yesterday, Gordon College Softball had an early start this morning at the Auburndale Softball Complex where they fell to theĀ Simmons Sharks in game one, 15-4 and 8-0 in game two against the Otterbein Cardinals.

Gordon vs. Simmons
  • The Sharks were determined to score first as they jumped to a 3-0 advantageĀ after their first ups before eventually taking an 11-0 lead in the third.
  • However, the Scots put up a fight as Isabella Rivera brought Gordon's first run across with an RBI single through the left side, scoring Kaelee Foreman. The next batter up, Ami Rivera followed her sister up with a three-runĀ blast over the left field fence to bring the score to 4-11Ā but it wasn't enough as Simmons continued to pour it on to seal the 15-4 win after five.Ā
Gordon vs. Otterbein
  • Starting right-hander Mara Little worked her way out of a bases loaded jam in the home half of the first and the Cardinals answered right back by doing the same in the next half inning to keep the score at 0-0.
  • A Cardinal single throughĀ the right side put the home team on top, 1-0. The score would remain tight until Otterbein broke it open in the fifth (6-0) before tacking on a pair of runs in the sixth to end the game early, 8-0.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Ami Rivera hit her first homer of the season in game one.
  • Emily Peterson booked her first multi-hit game of the young season.Ā
  • The Fighting Scots hit the AuburndaleĀ field again tomorrow, March 6 when they square up against Geneva at 2 p.m.
