Leopards Take Two From Scots In CCC Action

Gordon College Softball hosted the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) No. 1 ranked Wentworth Leopards today where the Leopards swept the Fighting Scots 7-2 in game one and 3-2 in game two.

Game One
  • The Leopards went to work quickly, scoring three runs off of three hits in the top of the first. Gordon answered back in the home half of the inning to plate their first tally of the game after a two-out RBI single rocketed back up the middle off the bat of Gina Terrazzano.
  • Ami Rivera roped a single down the right field line to score another run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Leopards already had a comfortable cushion as they came away with the 7-2 win over the Scots. 
Game Two
  • Abby Murray singled up the middle in the home half of the second inning to score teammate Mara Little to give Gordon their first lead of the afternoon. 
  • Wentworth came right back and jumped in front off a a two-run homer in the third.
  • A. Rivera had herself a day at the plate as the sophomore tied it up at 2-2 thanks to a deep shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the fourth. 
  • The Leopards were able to put pressure on the Scots' defense, scoring a run in the sixth and hold on for the eventual 3-2 win.
  • Rookie pitcher Emily Graham allowed just two earned runs in her second complete game of the year.

  • Ami Rivera has had 16 multi-hit games this season.  
  • The Fighting Scots return to action on Friday, April 21 to host the Salve Regina Seahawks at 3 p.m. for a double-header.
