Bison Pull Off OT Win To Spoil Scots' Senior Day

Jackson Wright led the Scots with four goals, followed by John Flemmi who contributed three, meanwhile, Joel Bean was solid for the Fighting Scots on defense, rounding up seven ground balls and causing two turnovers.

The Bison were guided by Jack Ellis and Hunter Ferreira who net a hat trick as well as one assist each.

How It Happened
  • The Bison got off to a hot start, securing a two goal lead after 5:21 minutes of action before Gordon's Seamus Gordon fed Wright to give the Scots their first goal of the evening (1-2). However, Nichols retaliated with back to back goals within twelve seconds of each other to take the 4-1 lead. Marco Fernandez doubled the Fighting Scots' score with 1:48 remaining in the first to bring the score to 2-4 until the Bison were able to sneak another goal in with less than a minute remaining to head into the second, 5-2.
  • In the next frame, the visitors kept the momentum on their side, scoring two in a row before Flemmi found the back of the net with exactly four minutes left in the first half (7-3). With 58 ticks remaining, Wright laced the ball past Nichols' keeper to head into the break, 4-7.
  • The Scots continued their scoring streak in the third quarter, as Flemmi opened up the frame with an immediate goal after five seconds of action to chip away at the deficit, bringing the score to 5-7. The Fighting Scots stayed strong on defense as they didn't allow a single goal from the Bison in the third, while Wright added another tally to his stat sheet with 2:42 on the clock to make it a one-goal game (6-7).
  • In the last 15, the Bison were able to put another one up on the board, scoring with just under the ten minute mark to pull away, 8-6. However, the Scots were determined to put up a fight, as back to back goals knotted it up at eight-all before Flemmi gave the Scots the one-goal edge with just over four minutes (4:08) remaining in regulation (9-8). Then, Gordon took advantage of a man-up situation to lengthen their advantage to two as Ryan Stephen Long found the back of the net with a mere 3:25 left. However, the Bison answered back with a goal before forcing an overtime with the tying tally with 31 ticks until the horn (10-10).
  • With a four minute overtime, the Scots attempted to seal their first CCC win, but the Bison were the first to score with 1:10 on the clock to take the narrow 11-10 victory.
