A. Rivera Smashes Record In CCC Sweep Over Colonels

Gordon College Softball hit the road this morning for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) double header against the Curry College Colonels where the Fighting Scots took care of business, sweeping the Colonels, 7-4 and 2-1.

Game One
  • Emily Peterson led off the game with a triple down the right field line, putting herself just 60ft away from scoring the Scots' first run. Isabella Rivera answered the call with a double down the left field line, followed by a single from Ami Rivera which scored sister I. Rivera.
  • The Colonels came back in the home half of the inning, scoring one before using a two-run homer to tie the game up at 3-3.
  • A. Rivera roped another single to score I. Rivera in the third and I. Rivera belted a sac fly to score Gina Terrazzano to make it 5-3 in favor of the blue and white.
  • Gordon added two more insurance runs while holding Curry to one more score to secure the 7-4 victory.
Game Two
  • After a scoreless first inning, the Colonels played some small ball to put pressure on the Scots' defense and go on top, 1-0.
  • In the fourth, Hannah Bouvier hit a two-out double to put her in scoring position for the middle of the order. Abby Murray hustled down the line, ending up on second after a throwing error by the Colonels' short stop, allowed Bouvier to score and knot it up at 1-1.
  • The Rivera sisters connected again in the top of the fifth as A. Rivera brought home I. Rivera after lacing a double to center field, putting the Scots on top, 2-1.
  • The pitching combo of Jayden Johnson and Mara Little shut the Colonels down for the next three innings, not allowing a single hit as the Scots booked the 2-1 win and CCC sweep.
