A. Rivera Reaches 100 Career Hits In Split With Lancers

Gordon College Softball took a break from conference action this afternoon as they traveled out to Worcester for a doubleheader against the Worcester State Lancers on Raymond Diamond. The Fighting Scots split with their hosts by identical scores, taking the first 4-2 before dropping game two 2-4.

Game One
  • On the first pitch of her at bat, Ami Rivera hit a bloop single into left center field to book her 100th career hit as a Fighting Scots in the top of the first.
  • The Scots drew first blood in the second as Abby Murray singled to third, but after a Lancer miscue, Mara Little was able to score from third base. 
  • Putting together a two-out rally in the fifth, Hannah Bouvier, Murray, and Gina Terrazzano hit back to back to back singles to put a three spot on the board and extend Gordon's lead to four (4-0).
  • WSU was finally able to string a few hits together in their last at bats, but starter Brooke Husson was able to limit the comeback as the Scots secured the 4-2 win. 
  • In the circle, Husson went the distance, allowing just two runs, scattering eight hits, while striking out a pair in 7.0 innings of work.
Game Two
  • WSU used five hits to score three runs in the bottom of the second before tacking on another in the third to go on top, 4-0.
  • Gordon cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth thanks to an RBI single from Emily Graham, followed by an RBI triple from senior Little (4-2).
  • However, the Lancers were able to hold strong in the seventh to come away with the 4-2 win over the Scots.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Sophomore Ami Rivera booked her 100th career hit in just 71 games played in game one. 
  • Freshman, Brooke Husson not only recorded her first complete game btu also her first collegiate victory from the rubber.
  • Next up for the Scots is their final regular season home game on Saturday, April 29 at 12 p.m. as they host Nichols College as they celebrate Senior Day.
