Gulls Upend Scots In CCC Play

Gordon College Softball returned to the dirt for their second Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) twin bill of the week to welcome cross-town rival Endicott College where the Gulls swept the Fighting Scots, 4-1 and 8-4, respectively.

Game One
  • It was a pitcher's duel for the first three innings as Gordon's Mara Little and Endicott's Maria Hanchuck kept goose eggs on the board before the Gulls' Chloe Shapleigh knocked one out of the park to go on top, 2-0 in the fourth.
  • Endicott stretch its lead to four heading into the blue and white's last at bats. The Fighting Scots put their rally caps on, but were unable to complete the comeback as they fell 4-1.
Game Two
  • An RBI-double from Ami Rivera followed by an RBI-single from Jayden Johnson in the home half of the first cut the deficit to four runs after Endicott put up six runs in the top of the inning.
  • Staying hot, A. Rivera brought in another run with yet another RBI-double to make it a 6-3 ball game after three innings. Then, in the bottom of the fifth, a wild pitch brought Little home (6-4).
  • The Gulls scored a couple insurance runs in the top of the sixth to lead, 8-4. The Fighting Scots loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to cross the plate as the visitors came away with the four-run victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Scots have this Easter weekend off before returning to the diamond on Friday, April 15 as they travel to Bristol, R.I. to play the Roger Williams Hawks.
