No. 7 Scots Conclude Season In 11 Inning Postseason Battle On The Road

The No. 7 seeded Gordon College Fighting Scots traveled into Boston today to square off against the No. 6 ranked Suffolk University Rams at East Memorial Park for the Play-In Game of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Post Season Tournament. Both sides battled through a marathon of a game, but it was Suffolk who was able to come away with the 13-12 win after 11 innings.

How It Happened
  • Shane Demers brought the first run across for the blue and white as the senior hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Jonathan McIntyre in the top of the first.
  • In the bottom of the first, the Rams were able to one up the visitors and score twice after a single to center field, giving Suffolk the 2-1 advantage.
  • Gordon quickly reclaimed the lead (4-2) thanks to five walks, a single, and a sac fly, but the Fighting Scots were not done adding to the scoreboard. Junior Dalton Cody laced a triple to right center field, scoring three more to widen the gap to 7-2 heading into the bottom of the second.
  • Then, in the fourth inning Suffolk matched Gordon's second inning tally by scoring six of their own for yet another lead change, 9-7.
  • The blue and white continued to work the count at the plate, as they earned four free passes en route to a four run innings in the sixth to go back in front, 11-9.
  • Fighting Scots southpaw Brett Moore allowed just one hit and one run in four innings of work after coming into the ball game in relief.
  • Both sides brought one more run across to make it a 12-10 ball game heading into the bottom of the ninth inning where Suffolk rallied for two runs to force extra innings.
  • The Rams led off the 11th with a triple and then came around to score the game-winning run a batter later to come away with the 13-12 win over the Scots.
