Kasiguran Set To Lead Men's Soccer Program

Director of Athletics Jonathan Tymann has named Kellen Kasiguran '13 the new head coach for the Men's Soccer program. Kasiguran returns to Wenham with a wealth of experience to become the 13th head coach in program history.

"Kellen not only understands but embodies the mission of Gordon College and Gordon Athletics and we're thrilled he's returning to his roots to assume the head coach role," said Tymann. "As an alum and former assistant, he's the perfect person to lead the men's soccer program in its pursuit of excellence on and off the pitch."

Kasiguran most recently served as the top assistant for NCAA Division II program, Belmont Abbey in North Carolina where in his first year made a run to the conference semifinals before being knocked out by the top seed. During his time in North Carolina, Kasiguran continued to immerse himself in the game, working camps for Liberty University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Wake Forest University, while also serving as the assistant coach for the Charlotte Eagles USL 2 Men's Team over the past two summers. Taking his passion for soccer and pouring into the community, Kasiguran has been working with Project 658, which is a non profit that serves the immigrants and refugee community in East Charlotte. There, he assisted with street soccer programming and developed the elementary aged community league while living in one of the urban ministry neighborhoods for 658.

The experienced coach hit the ground running early in his career, making stops at Wheaton College (Ill.) and Eastern University before returning to his alma mater in 2017 to assist in coaching the Fighting Scots. In total, Kasiguran has coached 43 All-Conference honorees, eight All-Region selections, two All-American players, and hoisted a conference trophy twice (2015 at Eastern and 2018 at Gordon).

"When I started my coaching career in 2014, head coaching Gordon College Men's Soccer was always my primary career ambition," said Kasiguran. "I am humbled and honored to be able to realize this dream now.  I want to thank President Hammond, Jon Tymann and the rest of the search committee for entrusting me with the leadership of the GCMS program."

In his four years as a player for the Fighting Scots, Kasiguran posted impressive career numbers. He started all 76 matches he appeared in, tallying 17 goals and 24 assists throughout his career. A three-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection, Kasiguran scored the game-winning goal in Gordon's first-ever NCAA tournament victory in 2013. Kasiguran capped off his notable career with NSCAA All-Region honors his senior season.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to lead this next chapter for GCMS," continued Kasiguran. "I firmly believe that Gordon College is a uniquely special place where the men's soccer program has immense untapped potential. I've believed this since I came in as a student here in 2009 and cannot wait to help take our program forward. It feels good to be back home!"
