Gordon College Field Hockey opened up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play this evening on the road as they traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts to battle the undefeated Western New England (WNE) Golden Bears where the home team shutout the Fighting Scots, 7 - 0.

How It Happened

• The Scots limited the Golden Bear offense to start the first quarter, as Allyson Stauffer saved the lone shot of the home team with five minutes left if the first. However, WNE found the back of the net three minutes later to go on top, 1 - 0.
• Continuing to put on a defensive clinic, the blue and white fended away an early pair of shots from WNE thanks to Stauffer as well as a defensive save from Peyton Petisce early in the second. The Golden Bears were able to bounce back to score three more times to lead 4 - 0 at the break.
• After halftime, WNE knocked in two more tallies in the third and one in the fourth to secure the victory.

• Peyton Petisce recorded her second defensive save of the season in the first half.
• On Tuesday, September 19, the Scots take the trip up to Waterville, Maine for a non-conference contest against the Thomas College Terriers at 4 p.m.
