Hawks Turn Away Scots In Inaugural Meeting

Gordon College Women's Soccer took the trip out to West Hartford, Connecticut to battle the Hartford University Hawks for the first time at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium. Despite two second half tallies by the Fighting Scots, the Hawks were able to defeat the Scots, 6 - 3.

How It Happened
  • Gordon keeper Emily Bengtson was put to the test early as Hartford took seven shots in the first 20 minutes, but the sophomore made a pair of saves to keep the home team off the board.
  • Then, in the 30th minute, senior Taylor Talesnick put the blue and white on top with her second goal of the season. Hartford, however, answered back quickly, finding the back of the net three times before the end of the half to lead 3 - 1.
  • Hartford scored first in the second half before rookie Eowyn Lapp cut the deficit in half (4 - 2) in the 53rd minute. The Scots netted one more in the 90th minute, but the Hawks were able to secure the 6 - 3 win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Lily Ford recorded her first collegiate goal today.
  • Catriona Galvin booked her first carer assist.
  • The Scots return home this Wednesday, September 27 as they host the Salem State Vikings at 7 p.m. under the lights.
