Gordon College Women's Tennis welcomed the Hawks of Roger Williams this morning where the Hawks defeated the Fighting Scots, 8-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
In doubles play the Roger Williams No. 1 doubles pairing defeated Gordon's
Annette Kim and
Serena Ross, 8 - 4. In No. 2 doubles, the Hawks earned another win (8 - 3) over
Amanda Kim and
Chloe Hanley. Rounding out doubles play Roger Williams' No. 3 duo picked up the win over
Abbigail Fournier and
Hannah Hovda.
In singles play, the Hawks watched their No. 1 secure a 6 - 3, 6 - 3 victory over An. Kim before taking No. 2 singles by a score of 6 - 2, 6 - 3 to clinch the match. The Hawks took singles wins at third, fifth and sixth singles, but Fournier tallied the lone point for Gordon in the match with a 7 - 5, 7 - 5 win on the No. 4 court.
Gordon (3-3, 2-3 CCC) will host Emerson on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 3:00 p.m. at the Brigham Athletic Complex. They will then take part in the NEWITT hosted by Amherst on Friday, Oct. 6. The Fighting Scots will then return to CCC play on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. at Western New England, before celebrating Senior Day against Nichols on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11:00 a.m.
