In their 2023 home-opener, Gordon College Women's Tennis hosted the Simmons University Sharks at the Brigham Athletic Complex where the Fighting Scots came out rolling en route to a 9 - 0 victory over the Sharks.
Amanda Kim and
Hannah Hovda got the Scots off on the right foot after blanking their No. 3 doubles counterparts, 8 - 0. Shortly after,
Annette Kim and rookie
Serena Ross made it two wins in a row thanks to an 8 - 3 win in the No. 1 slot. Wrapping up doubles action was
Chloe Hanley and
Abbigail Fournier who made it a clean sweep in doubles play with another 8 - 3 victory.
Holding a comfortable 3 - 0 advantage heading into singles, Fournier gave Gordon its fourth tally of the afternoon before freshman Hanley sealed the victory in No. 3 singles (6 - 1, 6 - 0). Also earning wins for the home team were Ross (6 - 1, 6 - 2), Hovda (6 - 1, 6 - 3), An. Kim (6 - 2, 6 - 3), and Am. Kim (6 - 4, 6 - 3).
The Fighting Scots return to action on Thursday, September 7 at 3:30 p.m. to host the Assumption University Greyhounds at the Brigham Athletic Complex. Â
