Gordon College Women's Tennis returned to the Brigham Athletic Complex for another home match as they played host to the Assumption University Greyhounds (NCAA Division II). Despite their best efforts, the visitors defeated the Fighting Scots, 8-1.
Assumption earned the first win of the day with an 8-0 victory on the No. 3 court, before securing the doubles sweep with matching 8-4 wins on the other two courts.
Highlighting singles play was rookie
Serena Ross who in just her first week of collegiate competition took down her DII opponent in No. 2 singles. In the first set, Ross was narrowly defeated by a score of 6-4, but the freshman did not back down, battling back to take the second, 7-6 before winning the tie breaker, 12-10 to prevent the shutout.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Wednesday, September 13 as they welcome the Pride of Regis College for a 3 p.m. matchup.
