Scots Stonewall Pilgrims In 3-1 Win

The Gordon College Fighting Scots' Volleyball team took to Kanas Court and welcomed the New England College (NEC) Pilgrims from Henniker, New Hampshire this evening. The initial set was won by the Pilgrims, but the Fighting Scots came back strong, beating the opposition to 25 points in the next three sets, giving the Scots the victory 3 - 1.

How It Happened
  • In the first set, the Scots took an early 10 - 6 lead. However, the Pilgrims were able to string together a handful of service aces while capitalizing in crucial situations, before closing the set with a  25 - 22 win for the Grims.
  • The Scots came out on fire for the second set, as junior, Annie Murphy had back-to-back kills, followed by rookie, Teagan Brideweser's three aces. Gordon breezed their way to a  25 - 12 win to even the score up 1 - 1.
  • With the sets tied, the Scots continued on the trend from the second, as Joey Keltner put the exclamation mark on the 25 - 15 win with three aces and a kill to wrap up the third (2 - 1).
  • Gordon went on top 12 - 3 and never looked back as they dominantly won the fourth set 25 - 10.
