Gordon College Women's Basketball returned to their home court today for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tilt against the U. of New England (UNE) Nor'easters. The Fighting Scots fell to UNE 74-49.Â
For the Fighting Scots,
Ami Rivera registered 12 points and four rebounds,
Isabella Rivera added seven points and four boards, while
Sophie Peters chipped in five points, three steals, and four boards.
UNE's
Faye Veilleux had 18 points and 12 rebounds, while
Jordyn Franzen added 11 points.
How It Happened
- The Fighting Scots got out to a hot start thanks to a layup from Naomi Nicholson and a three-pointer from I. Rivera. Both squads traded leads throughout the remainder of the frame with the visitors holding the one-point edge going into the second (16-15). In the second, UNE took control to widen the gap to 35-17 at halftime.
- Midway through the third, the blue and white held the Nor'easters to one point during a 9-1 run but the visitors remained on top, 52-29 heading into the fourth.Â
- Cheyann Tooman knocked in the bruise and the bucket to kick off the fourth, followed by back-to-back three's from A. Rivera. Gordon strung together a 9-0 scoring spree late in the fourth but the Nor'easters were able to secure the conference win.
