I. Rivera, Noyes Post Double-Doubles In Loss To Nichols

In their second contest of a three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) game week, Gordon College Women's Basketball hit the road to take on the Nichols College Bison where the Bison were able to pull off the 102-83 win over the Fighting Scots. 

For the blue and white, Isabella Rivera had a double-double with 22 points and 10 boards, as well as adding four steals, Sydney Noyes also notched a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, Ami Rivera registered 13 points, eight boards, and six assists, Olivia Brown chipped in 13 points, and Sophie Peters reached double-digits in rebounds with 11 as well as dishing out four assists. 

Nichols' Summer Klein had 21 points, Abrianna Vazquez added 19, while Leandra Ortiz chipped in 11 points. 

How It Happened
  • In a fast paced first quarter, the Bison and Scots knotted up the scoreboard a half dozen times before Brown sank one from behind the arc to take the one point edge heading into the second (25-24).
  • Nichols used a series of short runs to begin to widen the gap and hold a 10-point lead at the break (41-51).
  • An offensive rebound and put back by Peters, followed by an I. Rivera three-pointer lifted the blue and white to within three points (54-57) at the 4:37 mark. However, the home team regained control to widen the gap to 58-76 heading into the final quarter. 
  • Despite Gordon posting 25 points in the fourth, the Bison were able to hold the visitors at bay for the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Isabella Rivera netted a season-high 22 points.
  • Sydney Noyes booked her second double-double of the season and matched her career-high in rebounds with 14.
  • Gordon reached the 80-point threshold for the third time so far this season after shooting 54.4% from the field. 
  • As a team, the blue and white recorded a season-high 53 rebounds.
  • The Scots are back at it on Saturday, January 6 with a 12 p.m. start on the road against the Roger Williams Hawks.
