How It Happened
- The Hawks controlled the tempo in the first quarter, but the Fighting Scots battled back in the second, outscoring the home team 19-16. Midway through the second, the blue and white went on an 11-5 run, highlighted by a pair of offensive rebounds that were converted into points thanks to Naomi Nicholson and Sydney Noyes to bring the score to 45-23 at halftime.
- In the third, both sides were quiet early with Gordon drawing first blood from the charity stripe, but the Hawks regained momentum to lead 70-36 heading into the final quarter.
- Rookie Sophie Peters drained a shot from downtown to open up the fourth off of a feed from senior Noyes. After a made RWU free throw at 9:19, Gordon quieted the Hawks' offense for the next six minutes as the blue and white went on a 9-0 run. The Scots did not let up down the stretch, closing the game out on an other thrilling run (10-0) as they held the home team to just five points in the fourth quarter (24-5).Â
Beyond The Box Score
- The Scots put up 60 points on the Hawks for the first time since 2019. This is also just the fourth time this season that in a RWU victory, the other team has reached the 60-point threshold. Â
- Naomi Nicholson recorded a career-high with 21 points today.
- Gordon returns home on Tuesday, January 9 as they host the Curry College Colonels at 5:30 p.m. on Kanas Court.
