A. Rivera Marches Scots Past Colonels, 70-49

Gordon College Women's Basketball returned to Kanas Court this evening for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest against the Curry College Colonels. The Fighting Scots outscored the visitors in each quarter to claim the 70-49 victory.

Gordon's Ami Rivera booked 17 points, three steals and as many assists, Sydney Noyes had a double-double with 14 rebounds and 11 points, Isabella Rivera also earned a double-double with 11 boards and 10 points, and Naomi Nicholson recorded seven points, five steals, and four assists.

For Curry, Lauren Dunn had 17 points while Emerson Cherry chipped in 14 in the effort.

How It Happened
  • Curry stormed out to a 6-0 lead in the first minute and a half of action, but the Fighting Scots quickly retaliated, scoring 11 unanswered points before the Colonels hit a three to bring the sore to 11-9 in favor of the home team after one.
  • Noyes converted the bruise and the bucket to once again give the Scots the lead with 6:44 to go in the frame. Noyes and A. Rivera traded buckets as part of an 8-0 scoring spree before Curry was able to break up the momentum. However, the blue and white continued to roll as I. Rivera hit a layup and three-pointer in the closing seconds, giving Gordon the 32-24 advantage at the break.
  • A. Rivera opened up the third with the hot hand from behind the arc, sparking the home team to eventually lead by as many as 15 before holding a 12-point cushion heading into the fourth (52-40).
  • The Scots doubled up the Colonels in the fourth as they secured the 21-point conference victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Both Isabella Rivera and Sydney Noyes have collected double-doubles in two of the last three games.
  • Cheyann Tooman brought down a career-high 11 rebounds.
  • Gordon held the Colonels to zero offensive boards in the third quarter.
  • The Scots hit the road this weekend as they travel into Boston for a CCC match-up against the Leopards of Wentworth at 12 p.m.
