Scots Erupt For Four In The Second To Topple Leopards, 5-1

Gordon College Women's Soccer headed into Boston today for a Conference of New England (CNE) contest against the Wentworth Institute Leopards. After the scoreboard read 1-1 at halftime, the Fighting Scots set fire in the second to earn the 5-1 victory.

How It Happened
  • Not even three minutes into the game, Ava Forbes-Smith picked up right where she left off earlier this week as the junior put her squad in front thanks to a pass from teammate Rachel Mincone (1-0). With less than 10 minutes to go in the half, the Leopards tied it up at 1-1.
  • Looking to regain the lead, Liana Hanley fed Eowyn Lapp who struck the ball into past the Leopard keeper to go back on top, 2-1.
  • Adding to their tally, the blue and white's Madeline McNeilly and Lapp scored within seven seconds of each other to stretch the advantage to 4-1.
  • Capping off the afternoon, Kristi DiRico who just assisted McNeilly recorded a goal of her own to make it a 5-1 ball game.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Eowyn Lapp registered her second multi-goal game of the season and has now reached 14 goals this season.
  • Madeline McNeilly booked her first goal as a Fighting Scot.
  • This marks Kristi DiRico's first game of her collegiate career where she had a goal and an assist.
  • Gordon's five goals today is the most they have scored this season and most against Wentworth since 2010.
  • On Wednesday, October 23, the Scots hit the road once again to square off against the Nichols College Bison.
