Stepping on The Quad this Homecoming afternoon, Gordon College Men's Soccer battled the Roger Williams Hawks in Conference of New England (CNE) play. In a high-scoring affair, the Fighting Scots came out on top, 3-2. 

How It Happened

• In the 34th minute, Benny Simpson booted a perfectly placed ball in the box, finding the head of Luke Lindas who knocked in the first goal of the game, 1-0.
• Less than 10 minutes later, the Hawks evened out the scoreboard at 1-1.
• Thirteen seconds later, Simpson added to his stat sheet with a goal of his own thanks to a feed from Samuel Masenheimer to hold the 2-1 advantage at halftime. 
• Answering back once again, Roger Williams knotted up the game at 2-2 with a goal just 2:32 into the second half.
• With 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Cole Levis rocketed in a pass to Lindas who found the back of the net for the game-winner, 3-2.

Beyond The Box Score

• After a pair of ties in conference action, this marks Gordon's first league win of the young season.
• Today's win against the Hawks is Gordon's first victory since 2018. During that span, the two teams have played to a pair of ties. 
• Luke Lindas has now scored in back-to-back games. Additionally, the sophomore booked his first multi-goal game of his career.
• Today's game is the first time Benny Simpson has recorded a goal and an assist in the same game. 
• Samuel Masenheimer registered his first career assist this afternoon. 
• The Scots look to Saturday, October 12 as they take the short trip over to crosstown rival Endicott for a conference tilt.
