No. 3 Golden Bears Narrowly Avoid Upset Against Scots In CNE First-Round

The Gordon College Men's Soccer Team went on the road to Springfield, Mass. to take on the Western New England Golden Bears in the first round of the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament. The Golden Bears held on winning in penalty shootouts.

How It Happened
  • The Fighting Scots maintained a tight back line with senior defender Adrian Chiang and keeper Carson Flake at the helm. The Scots won tackles all over the field keeping a 0-0 score in the first haf.
  • The Scots upped the pressure adding two quick shots off to start the second half. The Golden Bears squeaked by with a goal in the seventy-seventh minute (1-0).
  • With less than five minutes to spare, Max Cardone delivered the Scots their equalizer sending the game into overtime (1-1).
  • The Scots took it into penalties as overtime was not enough to decide the winner. The Golden Bears hit their shots to hold on to the playoff win.
