The Gordon College Men's Basketball team tipped off on Kanas Court Tuesday night against conference foe University of New England (UNE). The Fighting Scots took the game to overtime but UNE prevailed for a 107-95 win.
Scots'
Bernie McGuinness recorded a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, joining him with a double-double was
Ryan Brooks with 21 points and 11 rebounds,
Bryce Smith and
Alex Daniel each had 14 points.
For the Nor'easters,
Adam Lux scored 28 points,
Adrian Torres hit 27 points, and
Jimmy Hulland with 21 points.
How It Happened
- The Nor'easters maintained an early lead but could not pull away from the Fighting Scots. Eventually, a Bernie McGuinness three gave the Scots a 15-13 lead. The Scots finished the half with back-to-back threes from Brandon Swann and McGuinness holding a tight 40-38 lead.
- Towards the end of the second, the Nor'easters built a comfortable 12 point lead until the Scots came rolling. McGuinness hit clutch jumper after jumper to bring the Scots back. Along side McGuinness was Ryan Brooks and Alex Daniel who went off for 12 points a piece in the second half. With five seconds remaining, McGuinness hit another clutch shot to send it to overtime (84-84).
- In overtime, the Nor'easters held on for a 107-95 win.
