Bowdoin Claws Past Scots In 2024 Finale

Gordon College Men's Basketball returned to Kanas Court today for a New Year's Eve game against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears where the visitors came out with the 71-60 win.

Gordon's Alex Daniel netted 15 points, while Brycen Matthews and Treyton Tebbs each added 10 points.

For Bowdoin, Ray Cuevas scored 16 points, Chris Simons added 11, while Kevin Reeves chipped in 10 points.

How It Happened
  • After a quiet first opening minutes, the Fighting Scots got in rhythm and doubled up the Polar Bears, 14-7 with 9:41 on the clock. Daniel made it 21-12 in favor of the blue and white with a shot from behind the arc, but the visitors answered right back with a 12-0 run to pull ahead, 24-21 with just over three minutes to go in the half. Gordon bounced back to outscore Bowdoin 5-4 in the final minutes but the Polar Bears held on for the 28-26 edge at halftime.
  • Five minutes into the second, Daniel knocked down two from the free throw line to make it a four point game, but the Polar Bears came back with a 10-0 run for their biggest lead of the game. Matthews sank a three-pointer to bring Gordon within seven, but the visitors held on for the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Rookie Brycen Matthews netted a career-high 10 points this afternoon.
  • Fellow rookie Bruce McGuire matched his career-high of six points while going 3-4 from the field.
  • The Fighting Scots play again on Saturday, January 4 as they travel to Connecticut for a conference tilt against the Hartford Hawks.
