The Gordon College Women's Basketball team celebrated their two seniors,
Sydney Noyes and
Cheyann Tooman, as they welcomed the Wentworth Leopards from Boston, Massachusetts for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match-up this afternoon. Five Fighting Scots notched double-figures en route to the 79-46 Senior Day victory over the Leopards.
For the Fighting Scots,
Sydney Noyes had a double-double performance with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while
Olivia Brown added 16 points off the bench.
Ami Rivera,
Isabella Rivera, and
Cheyann Tooman all netted 12 points apiece in the victory.
On the other side,
Gabby Amoddio and
Maddy Foster tallied 10 points apiece in the Leopards' effort.
How it Happened
- Wentworth scored the first two points of the game, but the Rivera sisters combined for 11 points in the opening stanza to help the Scots to the early 16-11 edge.
- Back-to-back triples from Brown at the three minute mark of the second would highlight the Scots 25-point quarter which sent them into the break ahead, 41-23.
- The Scots would close out the game as a team, dishing out 11 assists throughout the third and fourth quarter to guide them to the commanding 79-46 victory.
Beyond the Box Score
- Prior to the game the Scots celebrated senior day as they honored Sydney Noyes and Cheyann Tooman.
- With seven assists on the afternoon, Naomi Nicholson surpassed the 100-assist mark on the season.
- Sydney Noyes has now tallied four double-doubles on the season.
- Gordon College Women's Basketball is back in action on Wednesday, February 14 at 5:30 p.m. as they host the Nichols College Bison in final home game of the season.
