The Gordon College Women's Basketball team took to Kanas Court in their last regular season game as they tipped off against the Bison of Nichols College for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match-up. The Bison orchestrated a comeback in the fourth to take the 105-94 win over the Fighting Scots.
For the Scots,
Isabella Rivera registered a double-double with a game-high 32 points as well as 10 rebounds,
Sydney Noyes also booked a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds,
Olivia Brown added 14 points,
Ami Rivera chipped in 13,
Naomi Nicholson dished out 12 assists while grabbing nine rebounds, while
Cheyann Tooman secured 16 rebounds and nine points.
For Nichols,
Abrianna Vazquez and
Summer Klein each had 22 points, while
Leandra Ortiz,
Kiera Fernandes, and
Adriana Romando each netted 12 points.
How It Happened
- The Fighting Scots led 12-6 midway through the fast paced first quarter before the Bison knotted up the score at 16-all. Both sides traded shots down the stretch, but the home team held the upper hand (22-18) heading into the second quarter.
- Gordon stayed ahead in the second, keeping the Nichols' offense in check to lead 45-42 at halftime.
- Nichols and the Scots combined for 58 points in the third as the lead changed five times with the blue and white on top, 73-72 going into the fourth.
- Tooman hit a layup to tie the game up at 77 before the Bison began to connect from behind the arc to flip the script and widen the gap to a comfortable cushion in the final minutes to take the win.
