How It Happened
- A Tooman layup two and a half minutes after the opening tip, split the deficit in half (8-4). From there, the Gulls steadily widened the margin to lead 31-17 after one.
- The Scots outscored the Gulls 21-20 in the second, erasing a 22-point deficit early in the frame. Then, as time expired, I. Rivera secured the offensive board and put back to make it a 13-point game at halftime (51-38).Â
- Both sides went shot for shot coming out of the locker room, however, the Scots' aggressiveness was unmatched as the blue and white made four trips to the charity stripe as the Gulls and Scots locked up at 21 points scored in the quarter.
- With 2:56 to go in regulation, rookie Sophie Peters drained a shot from behind the arc to close the gap to 10-points, but the Gulls were able to hold onto their lead to come out with the conference win.
