After moving up their first contest of their spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Gordon College Men's Tennis squared off against the Eagles of Bridgewater College (Va.) where the Fighting Scots took down the Eagles, 8-1.
Carleton Riester and
James Wellborn were the first Fighting Scots to complete their doubles match as the duo defeated their counterparts, 8-3. Soon after,
Larson Benthem and
Joshua Noel bested their opponents 8-6, just two minutes before No. 1 doubles pairing of
Ezekiel Hall and
Jeffrey Bodner secured the sweep with an 8-5 victory.
Bodner nearly blanked his No. 2 singles opponent with a 6-0, 6-1 win to put Gordon one win away from clinching the match. Hall followed suit with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 1 slot to seal the deal for the blue and white. Also picking up wins were Benthem (6-1, 6-3), Noel (3-6, 6-3, 10-7), and Riester (2-6, 6-2, 10-2).
Next up for the Fighting Scots is a 10 a.m. match-up against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday, March 2.Â
