How It Happened
- Gordon's gritty defense stalled the Hawks early as the blue and white knocked in the first bucket of the day as both sides went shot for shot. The score read 12-6 in favor of the visitors with just over a minute remaining, but I. RIvera drained a three-pointer at the buzzer to make it a three-point game going into the second (12-9).
- The Hawks were unable to break away in the second, as the home team had answers for every attempt of a RWU trying to widen the gap. An A. Rivera layup in the finals seconds brought the Scots within one (30-29) at halftime. Â
- I. Rivera and A. Rivera banked in two straight jumpers to put Gordon on top, 33-30. However, the Hawks came back with an elongated scoring run to take a 12-point advantage heading into the final frame.
- Looking to shrink the deficit, Olivia Brown began the fourth with a shot from downtown off of a pass from Nicholson, followed by a layup from Noyes. RWU scored a pair of layups to regain a double-digit lead, but Gordon continued to claw away and made it a four-point game twice thanks to two three-pointers from A. Rivera, but the Hawks were able to survive and come out with the narrow win.
