Game Recap: Baseball |

Cody, McIntyre Join The 100 Hit Club Against Nichols

Gordon College Baseball returned to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action today as they squared off against the Bison of Nichols College on the road. The Bison handled the Fighting Scots, 14-8 and 12-2.

Game One
  • After a scoreless first inning for both sides, the home team used the long ball with two base runners on to make it a 3-0 game in the bottom of the second. However, their comfortable lead did not last long as the Fighting Scots' Alex Razzaboni and CJ Demers each connected for RBI-singles in the top of the third to cut the deficit to one (3-2).
  • Gordon knotted it up at 3-3 in the fourth, but the Bison answered back in the home half of the inning to regain the slight edge (4-3).
  • Nichols began to pull away with an 8-3 advantage going into the seventh, but Gordon was productive at the plate, scoring four runs thanks to four hits to once again cut the Bison's lead to one (8-7). Once again, the home team came right back to plate four runs in the bottom of the seventh as they came away with the win, 14-8.
Game Two
  • A triple by Demers, followed by a single from Andrew Hartman put Gordon up, 1-0 in the top of the first. Not done in the frame, the blue and white capitalized off of a pair of Bison errors to score another and lead 2-0.
  • The home team split the gap in half in the bottom of the first before gaining the lead after an eight-run second inning (9-2). After a scoreless third and fourth for both teams, the Bison tacked on three more runs to end the game early (seven innings) by a score of 12-2.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Dalton Cody and Jonathan McIntyre both recorded their 100th career hits of their Fighting Scots careers.
  • Game one starting pitcher, Riley Stys registered a career-high seven strikeouts.
  • Gordon returns to CCC play on Tuesday, April 2 as they host the Endicott College Gulls at 3 p.m.
