Battling the hot Florida weather, Gordon College Softball took on the Hiram College Terriers and the Chatham University Cougars at Legends Way. The Fighting Scots went .500 on the day, with scores of 2-1 against the Terriers and 6-0 with the win versus the Cougars.

• Isabella Rivera doubled to left center to open up the top of the first and later advanced to third in prime position to score the game's first run. Ami Rivera answered the call with a sacrifice fly to right field to make it a 1-0 ballgame. 
• The Terriers scored one run in consecutive innings to start things off offensively, going on top 2-1 heading into the third. Gordon nearly tied the game up in the third, but the Terriers buckled down and kept the Scots off balance down the stretch, before adding one more insurance run in the fifth to come away with the narrow 3-1 win. 

Gordon vs. Chatham

• Once again to lead off, I. Rivera had the magic going with a lead off walk, before eventually causing chaos with aggressive base running. Emily Peterson brought I. Rivera home, as next batter up A. Rivera brought Peterson home to put the Scots on top 2-0. 
• I. Rivera continued to make things happen as the junior hit a two-out double down the left field line before stealing third and continuing home after a Chatham miscue (3-0). 
• Three straight singles off the bats of Peterson, A. Rivera, and Emily Graham allowed Gordon to widen the gap in the bottom of the fifth (6-0). Gordon kept the Cougars scoreless in the next two innings to preserve the shutout. 
• Pitcher Sierra Ricci went the distance in her first complete game of the season, allowing just three hits, while striking out seven.

• Isabella Rivera has notched her first two-hit game of the young season. 
• Emily Peterson had her first game of three hits this season. 
• Sierra Ricci tied her career-high with seven strikeouts. 
• The Scots cap off their spring break trip tomorrow with a doubleheader against Arcadia and Calvin at 1:45 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
