Leopards Snatch Two From Scots

The Gordon College Softball team traveled into Boston as they faced the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action for a doubleheader. The Fighting Scots lost game one, 5-0 and fell in a close one in game two by a score of 3-2.

Game One
  • In the first inning, the home team took an early 1-0 lead after putting pressure on the Scots' defense.
  • The blue and white were unable to get into rhythm offensively as their lone hit came from Ami Rivera in the top of the seventh inning to load up the bases. However, the Leopards were able to get out of the jam unscathed to secure the shutout.
Game Two
  • After two innings of play, the Leopards went up 2-0, before the Fighting Scots answered right back as an A. Rivera double brought in Emily Peterson (2-1). Still in the second, the blue and white took advantage off of two errors made by the home team to even up the score 2-all.
  • From the circle, Liahna Messier allowed just one hit through the next three innings to keep the score locked up at 2-2.
  • Wentworth tacked on the go ahead run in the home half of the fifth inning, which gave them the eventual victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Ami Rivera has tallied a hit in the past four games.
  • The Fighting Scots return back to Boston tomorrow, April 14 for another doubleheader against the Rams of Suffolk University to stay with CCC action.
