Golden Bears Contain Scots In CCC Battle

Gordon College Softball made the long awaited return to their home dirt this afternoon as the Fighting Scots welcomed Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Western New England (WNE) on a sunny Friday afternoon. In two tightly contested battles, the Golden Bears defeated the Scots, 2-1 and 5-1.

Game One
  • Starting southpaw Emily Graham kept the Golden Bears at bay early, allowing just two hits through the first three innings as the score read 0-0.
  • In the top of the fourth, the visitors hit a two-run home run to go on top, 2-0.
  • Senior Jayden Johnson answered back immediately in the home half of the frame with a lead-off solo shot over the fence to cut the deficit in half (2-1).
  • The pitcher's duel continued in the final innings, as just one hit was recorded leaving the score at 2-1 in favor of the Golden Bears.
Game Two
  • WNE put themselves on the board in the top of the third before adding to their total in the fourth to hold the four-run advantage after five innings of play.
  • Keeping the comeback alive, Graham knocked in Ami Rivera to put Gordon on the board in the bottom of the seventh, but the visitors came out with the 5-1 win.
