Game Recap: Softball |

Perkins' Perfect Bat Powers Gordon's Game Two Win

The Gordon College Softball team continued their stint at home as they faced the Lancers of Worcester State in a double header, where the blue and white went .500 on the day with a quick game one loss 1-0, before a dominant game two in the box as they defeated the Lancers, 8-3.Ā Ā

Game One
  • To open up the first inning, the visiting team knocked in the first and only run of the game. Sierra Ricci came into the circle with bases loaded and was able to get out of the jam, as she struck out the final two batters to limit the damage.
  • It was a pitcher's duel after the first, as both hurlers kept the opposing batters off balance to keep the runners off the basesĀ the remainder of the contest.
Game Two
  • Beginning game two, Isabella Rivera doubled down the left field line, knocking in the first run of the day for Gordon (1-0).Ā
  • Samantha Perkins came up in the bottom of the second, with a double of her own down the right field line, and eventually came around toĀ scoreĀ on an error. Another error for the visiting team,Ā put runners on first and secondĀ for Gordon with I. Rivera back up to bat, and the junior sent a shot over the left field fence, putting the Fighting Scots up 6-0.Ā
  • The visitors started to fight back, scoring three runs in the top of the third (6-3).Ā
  • Both squads were gridlocked at 3-6, until the bottom of the sixth inning, where Emily Graham's singleĀ up the middle, sent I. Rivera home (7-3). Perkins followed up Graham with another double on the day, bringing in the final run of the game to take the victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • In game one, pitcher, Sierra Ricci allowed a season-low of three hits.Ā
