Taking a break from conference play, Gordon College Softball welcomed the Lynx of Lesley University for a doubleheader where the Fighting Scots defeated the visitors in both games by scores of 5-4 and 5-2 to secure the sweep.

Game One

• The Lynx leaped out to a quick 2-0 start in the top half of the first and held onto the slight edge until the fourth inning where the Fighting Scots' came around to score four times thanks in large part to a two-run shot off the bat of Jayden Johnson as well as a two-run double from Abby Murray.
• Lesley knotted up the scoreboard in the following inning, but the Murray stayed hot and drilled a triple to right center field, scoring teammate Samantha Perkins to lead 5-4 and secure the eventual victory.

Game Two

• Ami Rivera singled to lead off the bottom of the first and eventually came around to score to put Gordon out front, 1-0.
• In the bottom of the third, Johnson picked up right where she left off with a solo shot over the right field fence to make it a two-run game.
• After a walk from A. Rivera, the junior baited the Lynx's defense into a rundown, allowing Perkins to score from third base (3-0). The stealthy base runner continued to cause havoc for the Lynx, running all the way to third on a stolen base thanks to a Lesley throwing error to put her 60 feet from another Gordon run. Next batter up, Sierra Ricci stepped up to the plate and hit a single up the middle to score A. Rivera, bringing the score to 4-0 after five innings of play.
• Gordon tacked on another run in the fifth (5-0), before the Lynx scored twice in the top of the sixth to cut the Scots' lead to three runs (5-2). Lesley attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh, but the blue and white closed it out to collect the win.

Beyond the Box Score

• Sierra Ricci set a new career-high in strikeouts from the circle with 10 in game two.
• Both Abby Murray and Liahna Messier recorded their first triples as Fighting Scots.
• Jayden Johnson has now belted out four home runs on the season.
• Gordon returns to action on Saturday, May 4 to play the Curry College Colonels starting at 12 p.m. for a doubleheader on their home field.
