Gulls Win Battle Of Exit 48 At The Nest

Gordon College Softball took the diamond for their second straight day of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheaders as they took the short drive over to Endicott College to take on the Gulls. Endicott took game one by a score of 5-2 and game two, 4-0.

Game One
  • With the Rivera sisters on the corners (Ami Rivera on third and Isabella Rivera on first), Jayden Johnson rocketed a single back up the middle to score A. RIvera and move I. Rivera to second. Next batter up was Emily Graham who hit another single up the middle to plate I. Rivera to go on top, 2-0 in the top of the first.
  • In the home half of the first, Endicott snagged the lead after stringing together a trio of timely hits and benefitting from a pair of Gordon miscues in the field (3-2).
  • The Gulls tacked on two more runs to widen the gap to 5-2 after five innings of play. In the top of the sixth, the Fighting Scots were knocking on the door with two runners on, but the Gulls were able to escape trouble en route to the eventual win.
Game Two
  • Throughout five and a third innings, Gordon's Sierra Ricci kept the Gulls off balance, striking out two and allowing just three hits through five innings of scoreless play.
  • In the bottom of the sixth, the home team broke it open with four runs heading into the Scots' final chance in the top of the seventh. Despite a lead-off single from Emily Graham, the Gulls held on to secure the sweep.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Gordon held Endicott to five or less runs in both games for the first time since 2018.
  • Ami Rivera collected her second multi-hit game in CCC action and sixth overall on the year.
  • The Fighting Scot look to Friday, April 12 as they travel into Boston to square off against the Rams of Suffolk University at 4 p.m.
