Scots Open Up CNE Action On Winning Note Over Rams

On one of the first rainy and overcast days of the season, Gordon College Women's Soccer kicked off Conference of New England (CNE) play at the Brigham Athletic Complex where they hosted the Suffolk University Rams. The Fighting Scots struck first and continued to hold the upper hand en route to the 2-1 conference victory to give Suffolk their first loss of the year.

How It Happened
  • Striker Eowyn Lapp handled a feed from Ada Forbes near the end line and at an impossible angle, the sophomore curled the ball into the far upper netting to put Gordon on the board on top, 1-0 with
  • Nearly exactly 15 minutes into the second half, Kristi DiRico sent a pass to a wide open Forbes who booted a shot that bounced off a defender, over the Rams' keeper to give Gordon the 2-0 advantage.
  • Two minutes later, the Rams countered on a breakaway where Emily Bengtson came out of the goal with the initial save and did all she could but the Rams' attacked was able to regain possession to cut their deficit in half.
  • In the final 27 minutes, Gordon's defense held strong to close out the scoring to earn the 2-1 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • This marks the second time this season that Ada Forbes has recorded one goal and one assist.
  • Emily Bengtson matched her season-high of seven saves.
  • Gordon is now 9-0 all time against the Rams dating back to 2011.
  • On Wednesday, September 25, the Scots take the short trip to Salem to take on the Salem State Vikings at 7 p.m. on Alumni Field.
