The Gordon College Volleyball team opened conference play at home against the Nichols Bison Saturday afternoon. Firing on all cylinders, the Fighting Scots sent the Bison home promptly in a 3-0 sweep.

How It Happened

• Annika Schmitt got the Fighting Scots rolling in the first set with an ace. The Scots and the Bison battled to gain an advantage resulting in nine lead changes. Eventually an ace by Annie Zimmerman secured the 26-24 win in the first set for the Scots.
• The Scots went down 8-4 in the second set before going on a 6-1 run. Hannah Barham sealed the second set scoring the final points for the Scots with three kills. 
• Looking to Sweep the Bison, the Scots scored three unanswered points to start the third set. Annie Murphy and Joey Keltner led the charge with a combined seven kills the rest of the way. The Scots shut down any Bison comeback potential and finished off the third set for the 3-0 sweep.

• This is the Fighting Scots first conference win this season.
• Additionally this is the first sweep of the season for the Scots. 
• The Scots remain undefeated against Nichols in all-time head to head match ups.
