Gordon Opens Up 2025 With Road Win Over Blue Jays

Gordon College Men's Swimming ventured to Connecticut today to square off against the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph where the Fighting Scots defeated the home team by a score of 132-82.

  • Gordon started off hot, as Theo Dietrich, Johnny Minns, Major Adair, and Daniel Mota teamed up to take first place in the 200 yard medley relay (1:43.91).
  • John Sullivan, Mota, and Branaugh followed suit with a string of first place finishes on the men's side. Sullivan claimed first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:04.76), Mota came in first in the 50 yard backstroke (29.06), and Branaugh booked back-to-back first place nods in the 50 yard breaststroke (28.91), and 200 yard butterfly (2:36.41).
  • Rookie, Mota earned second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.92.
  • Adair joined in on the fun with yet another first place finish for the blue and white, this time in the 100 yard freestyle (53.56).
  • Dietrich shined in the 200 yard backstroke, breaking a school record along with securing first place (1:58.69).
  • Branaugh booked second place in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:30.32), before Sullivan was the top swimmer in the 500 yard freestyle (5:39.27).
  • In the next event, Adair came away with another crown thanks to the time of 26.49 in the 50 yard butterfly. 
  • Dietrich capped off the individual events with first in the 200 yard IM (2:00.19), before Gordon finished the day on top in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:27.92 (Adair, Mota, Branaugh, and Dietrich).
The Fighting Scots return to action a week from today for a home meet against the Monks of St. Joseph's (Maine) at the Bennett Center to celebrate Senior Day.
