BEVERLY, Mass.- The Gordon College volleyball team claimed three All-Conference of New England (CNE) honors, as the league office announced the end-of-season awards Wednesday.
Annika Schmitt (Quincy, Mass.) garnered All-CNE first team accolades to headline the selections.
Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) collected All-CNE second team honors while
Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas) earned a spot on the All-CNE third team.
Schmitt has appeared in 29 matches this season and has quarterbacked the Fighting Scots' offense. She ranks third in the league with 880 assists while pacing the conference with 67 service aces. Schmitt has also chipped in with 256 digs and 42 kills. In CNE matches, she has dished out 327 assists and dealt 30 aces.
Hutzler has started in 29 contests this fall and ranks second in the league with 339 kills while ranking sixth with 354 digs. She has also notched 39 aces and 23 total blocks. In conference play, Hutzler tallied 119 kills and 114 digs.
Zimmerman has played in 29 matches and ranks sixth in the CNE with 288 kills on the year. She has also registered 316 digs, 43 service aces, and 23 total blocks. In league action, Zimmerman has recorded 108 kills and 136 digs while adding 20 aces.
Senior
Evey Hansen (Dillon, Mont.) represented the Fighting Scots on the CNE Community Service Team which highlights one student-athlete per institution who demonstrates a commitment to their community. Each winner was picked and nominated by each program's head coach.
The Fighting Scots boast a 22-8 overall record and finished the season with a 7-3 mark in conference play. Gordon earned the No. 4 seed in the CNE Tournament and will face top-seeded Wentworth in the semifinals November 13 after defeating Johnson & Wales 3-1 in opening round action.
