WENHAM, Mass.- The fourth-seeded Gordon College volleyball team defeated No. 5 seed Johnson & Wales 3-1 in Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament first round action Tuesday evening at the Bennett Center. With the win, the Fighting Scots move on to face top-seeded Wentworth in the CNE Tournament semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon cruised to a 25-15 victory in the first frame to grab a 1-0 lead.
- The visitors eked out a 25-23 decision in the second set to level the match at 1-1.
- The Fighting Scots responded with a 25-18 win in the third to regain a one-set advantage, 2-1.
- Gordon rolled to a 25-11 decision in the fourth frame to wrap up a 3-1 victory and punch its ticket to the CNE Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2022.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Maria Clarabuch (Sant Cugat Del Valles, Spain) paced the home team with 14 kills while adding three aces.
- Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) finished with 10 kills and 19 digs.
- Teagan Brideweser (Warwick, N.Y.) notched seven kills and four total blocks.
- Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas) posted five kills to go with 10 digs.
- Annika Schmitt (Quincy, Mass.) registered 33 assists and 12 digs.
- Amanda Pierce (Johnston, R.I.) racked up 21 digs and six service aces.
POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT PUSHES ON:
With Tuesday night's result, Gordon advances to the CNE Tournament semifinals. The Fighting Scots will travel to top-seeded Wentworth November 13.
