WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College women's basketball team dropped a 70-52 decision to Salem State Tuesday evening at the Bennett Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After Salem State raced out to a five-point lead, Gordon battled back to tie the game at 13-13 on a layup by Paige Gadarowski (Athol, Mass.) with 2:48 remaining in the first quarter.
- The Vikings ended the opening period on a 9-1 run to hold a 22-14 advantage.
- The visitors extended the margin to 13 points with 2:34 left to play in the second frame and sported a 36-27 lead at the halftime intermission.
- Salem State outscored Gordon 24-10 in the third to widen the gap to 60-37.
- The Vikings stretched their lead to 65-39 with 6:11 to go in the contest and closed out their third victory of the year.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Leah McGarvey (Harrisburg, Pa.) poured in a game-high 17 points.
- Sophie Peters (Sidney, Mont.) posted her second double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 boards.
- Sami Monighetti (Las Vegas, Nev.) chipped in with six points, three assists, and three steals.
- Gordon shot 30% from the floor and 25% from the perimeter on the night.
- Salem State finished the game with a field-goal percentage of 36.6% to go with 35.3% shooting from three-point distance.
- Yamilette Guerrero led the Vikings with 11 points while Ernidia Goncalves and Destiny Alce both tallied 10 points.
