Gordon College Women's Basketball hit the court today as the Fighting Scots celebrated Senior Day by hosting the Hartford Hawks. The blue and white took care of business in style with a 91-80 Conference of New England (CNE) win.
For the Scots,
Ami Rivera put up video game numbers with 30 points and 15 rebounds,
Woynitu Ciccarello was not far behind with 20 points,
Leah McGarvey added 15, while
Naomi Nicholson scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
Hartford's
Ava Naszimento booked 24 points and 11 rebounds,
Sidnee Bowden added 14, while
Ella Marchesani chipped in 12 points.
How It Happened
- Down by just four with 3:49 remaining in the first, Gordon went on a tear, scoring 11 straight points to go on top, 19-12 with 1:58 on the clock. Hartford nailed two timely three-pointers in the final 30 seconds trail by one going into the second (24-23).
- The score flip flopped early in the quarter before the home team orchestrated another solid run (8-0) to lead by 10 points with just under two minutes to go in the half. The Hawks hit three from the charity stripe late to cut Gordon's advantage to single digits at halftime (46-39).
- Hartford made it a three-point game midway through the third, but Gordon outpaced the visitors 12-2 to regain control and go on top, 69-60 to cap off the third.
- Once again attempting to make a comeback, the Hawks came within three points late in the fourth, but the blue and white used yet another scoring spree (9-0) to seal the deal for the 11-point victory.

- Before today's game, the Fighting Scots celebrated Brynn Barnhard, Naomi Nicholson, and Ami Rivera.
- Ami Rivera brought down her 500th career rebound this afternoon. The senior also registered a new career-high in rebounds and tied her career-high in points.
- Gordon remains home this week as they welcome the Suffolk University Rams on Wednesday, February 5 at 5:30 p.m.
