Gordon College Women's Basketball hit the road today for a Conference of New England (CNE) battle against the University of New England (UNE) Nor'easters where the home team took care of the Fighting Scots, 87-60.

For Gordon, Naomi Nicholson nearly had a double-double with 20 points, nine rebounds and six dimes, Sophie Peters followed suit with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Leah McGarvey and Woynitu Ciccarello chipped in nine and eight points, respectively.

UNE's Ella Karavanic and Faye Veilleux each netted 14 points, while Sydney Jenisch and Kaia Anderson scored 12 points apiece.

How It Happened

• McGarvey, Ciccarello, and Peters put the Scots on top early in the first before the scoreboard read 10-all with four minutes to go in the quarter. UNE scored six unanswered to help widen the gap to 18-12 going into the second.
• With Gordon ahead by one point thanks to a three-pointer from Nicholson, UNE took over, going on a 19-0 run to end the quarter ahead by 18 (43-25).
• Nicholson scored nine of her 20 points in the third but the Scots still trailed, 60-40 with 10 minutes to go in regulation.
• Despite putting up 20 points in the fourth for their best offensive performance of the day, UNE remained in the driver's seat to take the win.

• Naomi Nicholson scored a season-high 20 points today and was just one point shy of tying her career-high which she set a year ago.
• Gordon returns to action on Tuesday, February 11 to host the Curry College Colonels at 5:30 p.m. on Kanas Court.
