MEET RESULTS
The Gordon College Men's Track and Field took their talents down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. The Fighting Scots competed on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 for the first time in program history where multiple school and personal records with recorded.
Friday
- Daniel Chewning stole the show in his heat of the 100m with a program record of 10.90 seconds. His performance won him the heat and earned ninth place in the event. Chewning is the first Fighting Scot to break 11 seconds in the 100m.Â
- Also in the 100m, Justin Herzog and Keenan Jones moved into fourth and fifth all time, respectively.Â
- Jacob Dyer had a top 20 finish in the 1500m with a time of 4:23.45. Behind him at 26 was Evan Hand, running a 4:30.26
- Andrew Vickerman lit up the hammer circle in his first outdoor meet as a Scot with a throw of 39.01m. Vickerman's distance lifted him into third place all time in program history.
- William Hughes won the high jump event, clearing the bar at 1.85m
- Both Chewning and Hughes curated another top ten performance in the long jump. Chewning placed sixth with a mark of 6.75m which breaks his own program record. Meanwhile, Hughes reached 6.32m and tenth place.
Saturday
- Josef Schultz ran himself into the record books as the sophomore ran the 3000m in just 8:53.87 for a PR and beat the school record by seven seconds. His efforts were good enough for ninth place overall.
- Chewning ran his way to yet another school record as the junior was the 10th sprinter to cross the finish line (out of 100 runners) in the 200m at the 22.27 mark. Chewning broke teammate's Lonstein's record which was set last year.
- Hughes wrapped up the successful trip with a new record in the triple jump (13.07). The previous record was set in 2022 with a jump of 12.94m.
- Noah Prince moved to fifth all time in discus with a throw of 37.18m.
The Fighting Scots return to action to compete in their first outdoor meet in New England on Saturday, March 29 to compete at Tuft's Snowflake Invitational.
