Golden Bears Grab Doubleheader Win Over Scots

Gordon College Softball faced the Western New England (WNE) Golden Bears on the road for a doubleheader Friday afternoon. The Golden Bears took a tightly contested game one win, 5-4. Game two was taken by the Golden Bears in a 13-3 win over the Scots. 

Game One 
  • The Golden Bears took went up 1-0 in the first but the Scots quickly tied it up at 1-1 off a error from the WNE pitcher.
  • Makayla Falco gave the Scots their first lead of the game off a single RBI down the left line. However, the Golden Bears regained the lead 3-2 off a homer in the third.
  • Caoimhe Wernsing returned the favor with a homer of her own sending in two runs for another lead change (4-3). The Golden Bears tied it back up at 4 a piece in the fourth. 
  • WNE secured the 5-4 win with a run in the seventh.
Game Two
  • The Golden Bears got off to an early lead.
  • Ami Rivera highlighted the fourth inning with a home run over the left field fence to make the score 1-12 in the fourth inning.
  • Then in the fifth Wernsing recorded a single RBI for the Scots' second run of the game. Soon after, Rivera sent another run across the plate for the Scots final run of the game.

  • Caoimhe Wernsing hit her second home run of the season.
  • Ami Rivera hit her third home run of the season. 
  • The Scots travel to Salem State next on Wednesday, April 23.
