Scots Battle In Close Match At Rhode Island Invitational

The Gordon College Men's Golf team traveled to Rhode Island this weekend to compete against nine other competitive programs at the Rhode Island College Spring Invitational. The Valley Country Club was a par 72 course measured at 6,508 yards. 

Roger Williams took the crown, followed by Springfield, Wesleyan, Suffolk, and Gordon. Western Conn. came in sixth followed by Emmanuel, Rhode Island Col., and Worcester State.

Day One
  • Cole Scannell was the top golfer out of nearly 50 student-athletes after day one, shooting just one over par. Teammate Austin Crick finished just out of the top-15 in 17th place (+8).
  • As a team the Fighting Scots shot +36 on Friday and were one of six teams battling for the second place spot.
Day Two
  • Scannell once again proved to be the top golfer for the Scots as the veteran came in third place overall after the two day invite.
  • Wyatt Sorenson was +7 on the second day, improving from +11 on day one.
The Fighting Scots look next to the Gordon College Shoot-Out on Monday, April 28 at the Wenham Country Club.
