Hawks Snatch Doubleheader Over Scots

Gordon College Baseball hit the road to take on the University of Hartford Hawks in a Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader. The Hawks shutdown the Scots' late momentum in game one to win 12-7. In game two, the Hawks survived another late push by the Scots, winning 7-4.

Game One
  • The Hawks put three runs across the plate in the first to take an early 3-0 lead. 
  • Tyler Wilson took advantage of a pick off as he scored on the throw (3-1).
  • The Scots scored another run in the fifth after Jonathan McIntyre was walked (9-2).
  • In the next inning, Gabe Fales ripped a triple to left center. Jacob Hitchcock took advantage of the perfect scoring position and hit a sacrifice fly to cut into the Hawk's lead (9-3). Hunter Normandin batted in a fourth Scots' run. Then to close out the inning, CJ Demers singled to bring the score to 9-5. 
  • In the top of the ninth, Fales batted in a Scots' run (12-6). For the final run of the game, Hitchcock recorded a single RBI. 
Game Two
  • The Hawks held a 4-0 lead over the Scots in the fifth inning until McIntyre cranked a double to give the blue and white their first score.
  • Demers put the Scots in scoring position with a double to left field in the ninth. Wilson finished the job with a double to left field of his own to send in two runs. Robert Dunkle then singled to center field for another Scots' run. 
Beyond The Box Score
  • Tyler Wilson recorded his twentieth stolen base of the season.
  • CJ Demers broke the program career doubles record with 35.
  • Next up for the Fighting Scots is the Suffolk Rams on Tuesday, April 29.
