Scots Split With Leopards In Home-Finale

Gordon College Softball welcomed the Wentworth Leopards this afternoon for a Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader. The Fighting Scots took game one by a score of 7-2 and fell to the visitors, 9-1 in game two.

Game One
  • With the bases loaded, Hailey Conde hit a ball to the right side to score Ami Rivera in the bottom of the first. The Leopards knotted up the scoreboard in the following inning.
  • In the top of the fifth, the Leopards took the slight advantage (2-1), but that lead was short lived as the Scots put a two spot on the board in the home half of the fifth (3-2).
  • A Lauren Parker double down the left field line sent Lizzie DeRusha on her horse, scoring all the way from first to make it a 4-2 ball game. Continuing to pour it on, Emily Graham hit an RBI-single to right before Rivera scored the Scots' seventh run of the game off of a wild pitch.
  • The Leopards extended the seventh but were unable to plate a run as Gordon earned the victory.
Game Two
  • Wentworth scored in the top of the first and later added to their total in the fourth (2-0).
  • In the fifth, the Leopards put a six spot on the board (8-0). Not wanting the game to end early, Gordon was able to orchestrate a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Wentworth crossed the plate in the sixth to come out with the win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Emily Graham tied her career-high in the circle with her seventh victory on the season in game one.
  • The Fighting Scots will wrap up their season this weekend as they travel to Maine to play the Nor'easters of the University of New England on Saturday, May 3.
