Gordon College Softball had an early start this morning as the Fighting Scots battled the Curry College Colonels on their home field. The Colonels took game one by a score of 3-1, but the Fighting Scots battled back to secure game two, 2-1 for the split.

Game One

• The Colonels capitalized off of their small ball after a lead-off double in the second to take the 1-0 lead. Curry tacked on two more in the fourth while the Colonels' pitching staff kept the Scots off balance at the plate.
• In the top of the seventh, Makayla Falco hit a one-out double and later came around to score thanks to a Caoimhe Wernsing single, but that was all the blue and white was able to muster up in the 3-1 loss.

Game Two

• Samantha Perkins doubled home Ami Rivera in the top of the first to lead the Colonels, 1-0. 
• Rivera reached on a fielding error to kick start the sixth, and then was able to cross home plate after Emily Graham earned herself a walk. In the bottom of the frame, Curry matched the Scots with a run of their own (2-1).
• Graham forced three ground outs in the bottom of the seventh as the Scots come away with the league win.
• In 5.2 innings of work, Katie Melendy scattered just four hits and one earned run.

Beyond The Box Score

• Emily Graham was knocked in a run in three out of the last four games.
• Makayla Falco has recorded a hit in three straight games.
• Pitcher Katie Melendy earned her second victory of the season in game two, and Emily Graham collected her second save of the season.
• Gordon returns to their home field on Friday, April 11 to play Nichols College with a first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
